So Cute 03:45
I miss my baby, I miss my cat I miss sleeping in a bed without a suitcase in the middle of that I miss my business bank account being in the black But I don’t miss sitting on the floor twiddling my thumbs like that, never again I thought it would be easy but that’s so cute Thought it would be easy but that’s so cute Thought it would be easy, but that’s so cute And cute ain’t cute no more, no Cute it ain’t cute no more, no Cute ain’t cute no more that’s not pretty, that’s not pretty And cute ain’t cute no more, no Cute it ain’t cute no more, no Cute ain’t cute no more, are you gonna grow up? I miss my passive-aggressive moves I miss the notion that somebody could just tell me something simple to do I miss blaming everybody else including you But I don’t miss sitting on my butt to afraid to lose Oh yes, Jesus loves me oh Yes, Jesus loves me, oh Yes, Jesus loves me Even when I’m going through the fire Gonna gonna come out as pure gold When I’m feelin’ kinda tired He’s gonna take me to the next town, next town

There are two people who don’t like me (Two people that I know of) And I think about ‘em day and night (Day and night) I couldn’t count all the times I counted all the times if I did something wrong As if that’s gonna do them right Speaking of doing it right (While we’re on the subject) You could do it right all the time in the big bad world Still people gonna think you’re mean (you’re mean) I’ve seen (I’ve seen) Everybody is a hurtin’ machine I’d give all I have for one thing I want you to understand me I want you to understand me There’s nothing I want more My heart is on the floor I want you to understand me All my cards laid out on the table (aces high) And my poker face has come and gone (come and gone in the blink of an eye) I couldn’t count all the times I counted all the cards till the game was done I beat the cheat, I got the bad guy Speaking of telling me lies (liar liar pants on fire) I can smell the smoke, feel the heat from a mile away After I hose you down (get down) Don’t drown (don’t drown) Come up for air and be found All along I’m singing I don’t want another maybe, I don’t want another yes means no Baby who could really blame me, I gotta go I gotta go go go- I don’t want another maybe, I don’t want another yes means no Baby who could really blame me, I gotta go I gotta go go go I don’t want another maybe, I don’t want another yes means no Baby who could really blame me, I gotta go I gotta go go go Maybe, I don’t want another yes means no Baby who could really blame me I don’t want your promises I want you to understand I want you to understand There’s nothing I want more I want you to understand me I don’t want another yes means no.

Some girls like it when you sweet talk ‘em Some want you to call them on the phone But I don’t need no sentimental nothin I’m happy chillin with you cuz you know just how to leave me alone Some girls want all that fancy jewelry But I could pick that out all by myself If there’s one thing that turns me on Gets me outta bed in the morning and right back in at night it’s when you wash and fold the colors and the whites, ooo If you love me you’ll do the laundry If you need me you’ll say the work is done If you want me let’s leave the party I think you’re sexy with your pajamas on Flowers, a waste o’ money Romance, a waste o’ time If you love me, you’ll do the laundry Let’s cut the chit chat and do it right You can make the coffee and I’ll make the bed (uh huh) I get up later than you anyway (I get up later anyway) You can tell me all my problems are up in my head Baby I like what you say, better yet what you don’t say They think I’m crazy. (What?) Cuz compliments don’t seem to float my boat (They just don’t float my boat) If there’s one thing that turns me on Gets me up the stairs real quick for some Afternoon delight It’s when the delicates are laying flat to dry. Get it done Rinse and spin baby do the rinse and spin Rinse and spin baby do the rinse and spin Rinse and spin baby do the rinse and spin Rinse and spin baby do the rinse and spin And do it right If you love me you’ll do the laundry If you need me you’ll say the work is done If you want me let’s leave the party I think you’re sexy with your pajamas on Flowers, a waste o’ money Romance, a waste o’ time If you love me, you’ll do the laundry Let’s cut the chit chat and do it So right

L.A. 04:07
I have a tan in January, I make six figures and I’m broke Oh the smog, it ain’t so scary. And that sunset well it sure puts on a show As for my career, it moves the same pace as my car On the I-5 North at 4PM to Burbank Boulevard I can’t remember if I’m stuck here But I missed my exit long ago L.A., can you believe I’m still here today I went and settled right down in tinsel town and I don’t think I’m going away Where the talk is cheap and the sunshine is expensive Well I think I’ll stay in LA I’m dropping names and making faces. I’m taking phone calls by the pool. Someone says I’m going places in this tournament where no one knows the rules Everybody’s friendly but I still don’t have a friend The ones I had got famous or left the game before the end Well it looks like I’m still standing If I don’t win I’ll just pretend Where the rain is a bigger deal than the earthquake I’ve been shaking from the start Hollywood, you broke my heart Where the pain becomes some kind of method acting nobody can fake I’m gonna be a star I’m gonna be a star Where the talk is is cheap And the sun feels so good Oh I think I’ll stay At least for today Well I think I’ll stay In L.A.

High Place 04:12
I am broken, don’t try to fix me Cuz I’ve fallen from the sky and that’s a long way to fall I’m scattered into pieces and I won’t find them all But I can muster up the strength To sing to you the song I sang Way back when I was tall Let me talk about my high place it’s my place I won’t come down Build hedges all around There’s only room for one of us in this town I don’t know how long I’ve been here I don’t care I’m comfortable Is it so terrible That I forgot what life is like on the ground I climbed up this ladder such a long time ago The rusted rungs have rotted in the cold December snow It would take eternity to scrub them all clean The only way down is to fall in your arms again Then I wouldn’t win Let me talk about my high place It’s my place You have to go I’ll turn on my radio And plug my ears so that I won’t even know… Let me talk about my high place It’s my place You have to go I’ll turn on my radio And plug my ears so that I won’t even know… I’ll wear some earbuds and they won’t even show I won’t even know I won’t even know

A bar into the melody is all that it takes Every na-na-na-na brings to me to the time and the place I still can’t hear that song without thinking about you I still can’t hear that song without remembering it all I’ve underestimated what it takes to forget Every whoah-whoah hurts more than I care to admit I still can’t hear that song without thinking about you I still can’t hear that song without remembering it all We danced right through the bridge But could we make it to the end? We used to be in love But still you’re more than just my friend The silent chorus after all the repeat and fade Leaves me with no recollection of why I ran away I still can’t hear that song without thinking about you all night long I still can’t hear that song without remembering

I keep forgettin’ we’re not in love anymore I keep forgettin’ things will never be the same again I keep forgettin’ how you made that so clear I keep forgettin’ Every time you’re near Every time I see your smile Hear your hello Saying you can only stay a while Hey I know that it’s hard for you To say the things we both know are true So tell me how come I Every time I hear How you never want to live a lie How it’s gone too far And you don’t have to tell me why Why you’re gone and the game is through If this is what’s real, if this is what’s true Then tell me why Don’t say that, don’t say that don’t say that I know you’re not mine Anymore, anyway, any time So tell me how come I I keep forgettin’ we’re not in love anymore I keep forgettin’ things will never be the same again I keep forgettin’ how you made that so clear I keep forgettin’

Nobody told me it’d be easy Nobody told me everything would be just fine I don’t know where or when I pulled these promises out of thin air Or if there’s such a thing as fair I think about these things on airplanes I’m never lonely until cruising altitude I don’t need anybody when I’ve got my feet flat on the ground Or when I’ve got a night in town I gotta be at LAX, JFK CDG , LGA LHR , Where are you? Flight delay at O’Hare I could be anywhere I don’t care where are you I felt the same yesterday, 7,000 miles away Everybody thinks I’ve changed But what’s strange is I’m ok At LAX, JFK, CDG, LGA still on my way I used to dream that I was falling Now every nightmare is an infinite ascent Where’m I gonna go when there’s no map no street no road up here And it’s too late to disappear I’m waking up at LAX, JFK, CDG, LGA LHR Where Are you Flight delay at O’Hare I could be anywhere I don’t care where are you I felt the same yesterday 7,000 miles away Everybody thinks I’ve changed But what’s strange is I’m ok At LAX, JFK CDG, LGA, Where am I today I’m still on my way to somewhere Baby I’m not afraid of crashing I’m not afraid of going down But I’m so scared of climbing higher I’m too familiar with the ground I used to be afraid of losing But now I’m frightened to succeed You got me crying on the airplane I ain’t no victim, but I neeeeeed you To pick me up at jfk CDG, LGA LHR, where are you? Flight delay at O’Hare I could be anywhere Meet me there, I don’t care Where are you I felt the same yesterday, 7,000 miles away Everybody thinks I’ve changed But what’s strange is I’m ok At LAX, JFK, CDG, LGA Nobody told me it’d be easy

Lord, you have searched me Nothing’s hid from Your eyes You know when I’m down You know when I rise You are well acquainted with all of my ways In You even darkness shines as bright as the day You’ve measured my ego You’ve seen all my shame You’ve heard every word I have yet to say And You love me the same For you wove me together in your secret place In You even darkness shines as bright as the day Try me, test my anxious thoughts You already know, You already care, You’ve already been there Search me, I will take a loss The rulers of this world do not owe me a thing Find me in my unbelief You already know, You already care, You’ve already been there Lead me in Your perfect peace When my only refuge is under the shadow of Your wings What am I afraid of With You on my side? You’ve proven your love You gave up your life You left all Your glory, now no evil is safe You have overcome In You even darkness shines as bright as the day

Come into my parlor Said the spider to the fly Lemme put my arms around you See how high we fly Fly said to the spider If you love me true Put it where you want it I will come with you It’s gonna be so right We keep it up all night You gonna be so good Just like I knew you would Put on funky music Wear your platform shoes You can dance the boogie I can sing the blues Turn the colored lights on Crawl into my crib Put it where you want it Gimme all you got to give Fly Said let’s get married Spider said “bye bye bye” We gon’ make some babies Who can crawl and fly So put it where you want it Put it where you want it…

Alfie 03:44
What’s it all about, Alfie Is it just for the moment we live What’s it all about when you sort it out, Alfie Are we meant to take more than we give Or are we meant to be kind And if only fools are kind, Alfie Then I guess it is wise to be cruel And if life belongs only to the strong, Alfie What will we make of an old golden rule As sure as I believe there’s a heaven above, Alfie I know there’s something much more Something even non-believers can believe in I believe in love, Alfie Without true love we just exist, Alfie Until you’ve found the one you’ve missed you’re nothing, Alfie As you walk let your heart lead the way And you’ll find love any day Alfie Alfie

about

Where the Sunshine Is Expensive is the debut recording of acclaimed powerhouse trombonist/vocalist Aubrey Logan on Resonance Records. Coined "The Queen of Sass" in the press, Logan was a featured guest on Dave Koz’s #1 selling contemporary jazz album, Summer Horns II: From A to Z, and her debut solo album Impossible (2017) charted in the Top 10 on the iTunes and Billboard jazz charts. Where the Sunshine Is Expensive was recorded live at the legendary EastWest Studios in Los Angeles in front of an intimate audience and captures an exciting blend of pop, jazz and R&B tunes that tell a story about Hollywood from Logan's unique perspective. Dave Koz says, "Aubrey is that rare artist who comes along once in a very long while. She truly makes you stop in your tracks. With such a communicative voice and style and a great sense of musical adventurousness, combined with unmatched technique, there’s really no emotion she can’t tackle musically. She’s the total package. Oh, and then there’s the trombone! She’s in a class all by herself.”
